If you're a fan of Smorgasburg in Williamsburg, then mark your calendar for the Rivertown Public Market, a free local food festival happening this weekend. Opening this Saturday on the banks of the Hudson in Dobbs Ferry, the pop-up market will feature local culinary favorites like The Cookery's Dave Dibari, who may be Westchester's top chef, as well as plates from the always-delicious Harper's, Bread & Brine, Boro6, among others. And if your mouth isn't watering yet, think: pulled pork, lobster rolls, burgers, … [Read more...] about Rivertown Public Market This Saturday
While on vacation with another family this summer, my friend broke out some toys to occupy the kids at dinner that I haven’t seen in a long time – Fashion Plates and Simon. And it turns out that these toys still got it. They kept my kids so busy that I had to buy it for ourselves when we got back home. Which got me to thinking about other toys and games from my childhood that the kids might enjoy. Also, for a list of really great school lunch ideas, I've been referring to 100 Days of Real Food's awesome list. That is one creative mom; she does so much with leftovers. Jigsaw Puzzle Sandwich Cutter There … [Read more...] about Packing the Perfect Lunch Box
It may be Labor Day, but that doesn't mean the summer's come to an end. In fact, the fall doesn't even officially arrive until Sept. 22, so can we all agree to keep the summer going a little longer? Let's keep wearing white clothing, shorts and flip-flops. Don't even look at your long-sleeve T's and fall jackets, no matter how cute they are. Keep heading outside — on hikes, for bike rides, on camping trips, and even to the beach. So long as the temperatures are still hitting the 80s, all these outings are still … [Read more...] about This Isn’t the End of Summer
