Walk a trail and read posted pages from the bilingual story “Rainbow Weaver”/”Tejedora del arcoíris,” written by Linda Elovitz Marshall and illustrated by Elisa Chavarri. In Guatemala, young Ixchel wants to follow the ancient Mayan tradition of weaving colorful fabrics on backstrap looms, but her mother has no extra thread. A bit of trial and error leads her to a clever solution.
