Do your kids have what it takes to be an American Ninja Warrior? Fans of the popular TV show get to put their skills to the test at two new ninja warrior gyms in Westchester. Westchester Ninja Warrior opened in Elmsford last fall, and The Grit Ninja just opened this month in Pleasantville.
I signed up my 7-year-old son, a devotee of the show, for a winter course at Westchester Ninja Warrior. He’s been having a blast so far. The classes are designed for ages 5 to adult and take place in a room constructed with familiar ninja warrior obstacles such as the floating steps, spider trap, and yes, even the warp wall.
In fact, there are four warp walls of different sizes so that even the smallest kids can experience what it feels like to conquer “the wall.” Classes are taught by coaches who train to be ninja warriors themselves. There are also open gym sessions for kids who want to give the obstacles a go on their own.
We haven’t visited The Grit Ninja yet, but the facilities look just as amazing. Maybe soon we’ll start seeing Westchester ninjas representing on the TV show!
