A friend of mine recently told me about Juicy Chicken, a new Peruvian restaurant, in New Rochelle. “Everything on the menu is special,” he said. The chef is a friend of his and apparently quite the culinary history buff, if you have the chance to meet him! Tired of our usual go-to take out and delivery options, we ordered from them a few nights ago, and it did not disappoint!
Juicy, flavorful and hot “pollo a la brasa” (aka rotisserie chicken) was delivered to our doorstep, along with chicken chaufa, a Peruvian fried rice dish, and the most sweet and savory chicken and beef empanadas I’ve ever had. We also ordered a side of fried plantains, which were sweet perfection, and had the French fries and salad that come with the chicken. Our taste buds were delighted with the yummy flavors in all the food and the sauces that were served with it.
Also highly recommended from the menu to try for next time is the fried calamari (supposedly better than at Italian restaurants), the beef chaufa, and the variety of ceviches. I’m sure the kids would also love the salchipapas (slices of Peruvian hot dogs over fries).
Juicy Chicken will deliver across lower Westchester with a minimum of $45, but it’s also a nice spot to take the fam to for a meal out. Nancy went for lunch recently and reported that the tiny restaurant is cute and clean, and that the staff couldn’t be nicer.
