Like many before them, CC Benitez and her husband moved from Brooklyn to Westchester when they were 5 months pregnant and longing for both a yard and more closets. But only 3 short years after their son was born, those huge closets were filled along with storage boxes stacked in the basement and garage. Getting rid of her son’s quickly outgrown stuff posed a problem for Benitez, and after selling some things, gifting others and donating even more, she saw first-hand that it’s not easy to clean out or get a fair return on investment. There had to be a solution…
Introducing Lil Chameleon:
The cool kid’s resale boutique, a cool cafe, and even cooler happenings.
Benitez founded Lil Chameleon as a premiere kid’s resale boutique which buys, sells and trades both new and nearly-new clothes, toys, books and gear. By offering the highest payout around and a transparent 30% cash or 50% in-store credit based on the resale price, she want her customers to know what they’re making.
So here’s the math…
You bring in a kid’s jean jacket. Lil Chameleon wants to buy it and will price it for resale at $10. You get 30% of that in cash ($3 paid today) or 50% in boutique trade ($5 valid for 6 months). You get an itemized receipt with your complete product list, Lil Chameleon’s retail price, and both your cash and trade value. You choose how you want to get paid. (Check out the video at the end of the post!)
Since Lil Chameleon is a boutique, space is limited, thus they must be selective. You can choose to take your goods home again or to donate them through Lil Chameleon if they can’t buy them. The Sharing Shelf and The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester are two of many charity organizations they work with to help those in need in our local area. .
And it gets better. As a new mom and newbie to Westchester, Benitez often felt isolated and lonely when her son was a baby so she took the idea for Lil Chameleon one step further. In addition to the retail element, why not combine a cool café and and chic yet family-friendly space for moms to meet? Within the cozy, self-serve, cashless cafe you can enjoy quick and healthy snacks and drinks from other local small businesses and meet new moms. There’s even a wide range of classes offered for you and your lil one, available per class or by membership to enjoy a range of enrichment.
Lil Chameleon also does birthday parties including an affordable DIY space rental, party ad-ons, a signature COLOR party or custom party packages.
Lil Chameleon officially opens next week, October 4th! And registration is underway for classes, parties and services. For more info, visit www.lilchameleon.com, and be sure to sign up for the email list for exclusive discounts. Follow Lil Chameleon on Facebook and Instagram too!
