Larchmont, Bronxville and the Rivertowns boast some of the most expensive real estate in the county — real estate agents say that prices are as high, if not higher, than quintessential fancy towns like Scarsdale and Chappaqua. So what can you get down county for about a million? Here are a few picks:
66 Edgars Lane, Hastings on Hudson (above)
While the 3-bedroom house is a little over the million mark, it’s in the sought-after Riverview Manor neighborhood and walkable to all in the village of Hastings. I’m charmed by the floor to ceiling French doors in the living room. Plus, there’s lots of light. The cons: The kitchen and dining room look a little closed off from the rest of the house.
530 Stellar Avenue, Pelham
This 3-bedroom, 3 bathroom cutie would make a perfect starter home for a family moving up from the city. It’s close to the neighbors, which city folks will love, and the living areas are open. Upstairs bedrooms are spacious. Plus, Pelham is a great little town where all the neighbors are tight-knit. (I don’t live here. Just saying…)
69 Edgewood Avenue, Larchmont
This four-bedroom charmer is about 1,800-square-feet, which is deceiving from the exterior shot. I would have thought it was tinier. Still, it may be worth looking at since the photos are terrible. The house may be a lot cuter in person.
11 Colonial Road, Bronxville
This house is big — 5 bedrooms, 2,800-square-feet, even a finished basement with a 1970’s, Brady Bunch-style wooden bar. Ahem, I’m serious. But if you peeled away the decor and gave this house a fresh coat of paint, it would make a lovely family home. House is zoned for Tuckahoe schools.
