Welcome summer under the open sky with an empowering outdoor mega-yoga event for all ages! Join The Mental Health Association of Westchester on Wednesday, June 21st in White Plains as their popular “Get On Your Mat For Mental Health” yoga-class-for-a-cause returns.
Held in Turnure Park, just two blocks away from downtown White Plains, the event begins at 5:30 pm as check-in and registration opens. Enjoy the sounds of world music trio House of Waters as you stroll through the yoga marketplace and meet sponsors and vendors like Auburn Jewelry. Be sure to stop by Drybar’s table to receive a free braid from one of their stylists, then head on over to the photobooth to strike your favorite yoga pose and tell the world why you think #MentalHealthMatters!
Then, at 6:30, it’s time to get on your mat for mental health! Renowned yoga teacher Beryl Bender Birch will take the stage to lead an hour-long gentle yoga class suitable for all levels and ages. Beryl, who has been teaching yoga and training yoga teachers for over 40 years, has been hailed for her down-to-earth, accessible style of teaching that has made her a beloved and highly sought-after teacher. A portion of the ticket sales will go toward the Give Back Yoga Foundation, of which Beryl is the co-founder and board chair.
Be sure to sign up early: the first 250 registrants will receive a free yoga mat at the event, generously donated by White Plains Hospital! Registration for adults is $25 through June 20th ($30 day-of-event); kids under 12 can register at a reduced “little yogi” rate of $15.
Get On Your Mat For Mental Health raises vital awareness and support for behavioral health issues and services while illustrating the positive impact of yoga on mental wellness. Proceeds benefit MHA, a community non-profit serving 12,000 adults, teens and children each year through an array of person-centered and recovery-oriented programs and services.
