You’re overdue for a date night and decide to plan an evening out with some other couples. Do you (a) make reservations for dinner; (b) get tickets for the latest movie; or (c) let yourself be locked in a room where you and your friends must work together to decipher a series of clues in order to get out?
If C sounds like your idea of fun, then dust off your trusty magnifying glass and sign up for a session at Escape the Room Scarsdale. “Escape rooms,” where groups must solve clues within a time limit to find a key that will unlock the door, are the latest craze to hit major cities (my husband and I have been to a couple in Manhattan), but this is the first time we’re seeing it in Westchester. This particular one, set up by the company X-Room, is located at The Teen Center in Scarsdale, where it’s being marketed to teens and adults alike as a fun, team-building exercise.
Choose between two rooms, The Rescue and Top Secret (The Rescue is the easier of the two and best for beginners), round up a group of your smartest friends, and see if you can work together to solve the series of puzzles. What’s the significance of all these passports? How do you get into that locked drawer? Are the eyes on that black-and-white portrait following you?! Just kidding on that last one.
Tickets are $28 a person. Make your reservations in advance here.
