This may be the balmiest December we’ve had in awhile, but that hasn’t stopped us from breaking out the hot cocoa! My kids are obsessed with hot cocoa, so when I saw on Pinterest this fun and easy way to dress it up, I just had to try it out.
Here’s all it is: You spray whipped cream on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, smooth it flat with a spatula, and freeze it for about an hour. Then use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes for floating in your hot cocoa. Instant gourmet beverage! Try adding some sprinkles to the whipped cream before you freeze it for even more fun.
Some caveats: The frozen whipped cream starts to melt and fall apart very quickly after you remove it from the freezer, so have your mugs of hot cocoa ready before you start cutting. Use a spatula to scoop up the shape — your warm fingers will turn the shapes into goopy messes (it also helps to chill the spatula in the freezer first). And don’t use complicated cookie cutter shapes; stick with easy to lift ones like hearts and snowmen.
