MHA has instructed all attendees to follow signs to the high school gym upon arrival, which they mentioned is a bit of a distance from the main road.
Enjoy yoga out of the studio and en plein air on Wednesday for The Mental Health Association of Westchester’s Get On Your Mat for Mental Health mega-yoga event. For yogis big and small, this amazing, annual event will take place on June 18 on Court Street in downtown White Plains at 5:30pm.
Named one of the seven most inspiring mega-yoga events in the world by Well + Good, the festivities this year will be lead by renowned yogi Matthew Sanford, marking his first appearance in Westchester County. Sanford is the author of the book, Waking: A Memoir of Trauma and Transcendence, in which he tells the story of the car accident in which he was paralyzed from the chest down and the subsequent waking of both mind and body through yoga. Says Matthew, “The principles of yoga apply to all people and to all bodies.”
Pre-registration is $20, and registration for day of is $25; the cost for little yogis under 12 is $10. The event is for all ages and all levels of yoga experience and includes a groovy yoga marketplace in addition to the yoga session lead by Sanford. The first 500 registrants receive a free mat and gift bag. There will also be live music by Answer the Muse, the spiritually-inspired performance ensemble. After the yoga class, all are welcome to stay and dance!
