Lace up a pair of skates — and get ready to glide. Here’s where to go ice skating in Westchester, both indoors and out.
Brewster Ice Arena is a three level, 90,000 square foot facility with two regulation rinks, a studio rink, Players Sports Bar and Restaurant (below photo), pro shop and gym. You can take group lessons, join a league, have a birthday party, go to skating and hockey camp and skate for fun! Public skating times are Monday – Friday 9am – 2pm, Tuesday – Friday also 3pm – 5pm and Fridays also 8:15pm – 10:15pm. Please check their schedule to double check the times as they may change. Ebersole Ice Rink is owned by the city of White Plains and offers public skating Wednesday 12pm – 2pm, Thursday 12pm – 2pm and 3 – 5pm, Friday 10am – 2pm, 3 – 5pm and 8pm – 10pm, Saturday 12pm- 3pm and Sunday (adults only) 10am – 11:45am and 1pm – 3:30pm. Cost: kids $9, adults $11 and reduced prices for residents with ID. Check out their skating and hockey classes and info on camps, too. Hommocks Park Ice Rink is owned and operated by the Town of Mamaroneck. Public Skating is: Mondays 12:30 – 2:30pm, Tuesdays 1pm – 5:15pm, Thursdays – Saturdays 1pm – 5:15pm plus Friday nights 7:15pm – 9:15pm and Sundays 11am – 5:15pm and Check out their schedule for skating and hockey lessons and info about birthday parties. The cost: Adults $8, children (under 12) $7, skate rental $4, plus discounts for residents. The Slapshot Cafe offers burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, pizza and more. Come to Murray Skating Center in Yonkers (above photo) for a DJ on most weekends and open skating Wednesday – Friday 10am – 12pm, Friday and Saturday nights 8pm – 10pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am – 1pm, 2pm – 4pm and Sunday nights 5:20pm – 7:20pm. Cost: $7, $4 skate rental. The Ice Palace Cafe is perfect for a snack, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford offers public skating throughout the week and weekend. For public skating times, please check their monthly schedule for specific times and call ahead because times are subject to change. The cost: $10.75 for adults, $9.75 for kids 10 and under and $6.25 for kids 3 and under plus skate rental of $4.25. You can also take classes, play hockey and have your next birthday party at WSA. Have a salad or sandwich at the Ice Bar and Grill or stop for a quick hot chocolate. There is also a separate bar area for a draft beer! There are several Westchester County’s parks that provide outdoor ice skating seven days a week during the day. Of course, the weather has to be cold enough for the ice to be safe, so call the individual park before you go. Bring your own skates!
