February can be a tough month for one’s self-esteem. If you’re anything like me, you may have pale, dry skin and a static-head of hair, hence making me want to wear a bag on my head most days.
Obviously, everyone can’t get away for a warm weather break, and if that’s you, we’ve got good news. No tropical sun? No problem. We asked the experts at Pink on Palmer, a charming cosmetics and gift boutique in Larchmont, how you can get the post-vacation glow without going anywhere.
Without hesitation, their response was Dr. Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads.
According to Judy Graham, Founder of Pink on Palmer, the Dr. Gross Glow Pads have active vitamin D which provides smoother, healthier looking skin AND is a great anti-aging product too. Tanner and younger looking? Yes, please! According to Graham, the Glow Pads “give your face a wonderful bronze and healthy glow – not a glow-in-the-dark orange color like the old self tanners.”
Also available are the Dr. Gross Glow Pads for Body which are larger and slightly stronger than the face pads. Dr. Gross claims the Alpha Beta® Glow Pad for Body is the only exfoliating & anti-aging self-tanner with Active Vitamin D that firms, smooths bumpy skin, and helps reduce hair growth. So, if you can’t brag about swimming in the aqua waters in Turks and Caicos, at least you can look like you’ve been somewhere warm.
When asked what beauty product everyone should add to their skincare regime, Graham recommends Dr. Gross again, this time the Alpha Beta Peels. These are daily peels (NOT “yikes, my skin is burned” peels) with small amounts of several important acids and antioxidants. “I am in my early 60’s and love this product, as does my daughter who is in her early 30’s,” Graham says, “I even use them on the top of my hands, which are a body part that’s a dead giveaway for age. The peels are not drying and work really well with the rest of the line.”
As a friendly reminder, Graham notes that if you are going to be in the sun, remember “it isn’t so much the number on the SPF, it is really about the length of time you are in the sun. You must reapply, reapply, reapply! The biggest cause of skin aging and wrinkling (not to mention skin cancer) is the sun.”
Judy Graham and Abbie Durkin own and operate three boutiques: Pink on Palmer & Clutch in Larchmont, and Pink on the Plaza in Rye Brook. This lovely mother-daughter duo love working as a team – Abbie is the creative arm managing design & display, while Judy focuses on product research and vendor relationships.
Wee Westchester readers are invited to call Pink on Palmer or Pink on the Plaza, for an appointment or to stop by for samples of the Dr. Gross peels and glow pads while supplies last. Dr. Gross reps come monthly to both stores to do complimentary peels and will be at PINK on Palmer on Tuesday, February 26, and Pink on the Plaza on Tuesday, March 12th.
