School ends in just a few weeks and I’m looking forward to a more relaxed routine. But I’m not looking forward to a month (or more) of no routine. That’s why we’ve rounded up the best mini camps in Westchester, all starting at the beginning of June. Whether you’re looking for a few days of camp for the month of June or a program for every day of the week, the following mini-camps offer a flexible, fun schedule. Plus, we made sure that each one still has availability!
Armonk Tennis Camp features mornings (9am to 12:30pm) packed with a variety of sports for ages 3 1/2 to 10 years old. Camp starts June 4 and runs through June 22, with an extended program available until 2:0opm. ($325 for one week, 2-3 weeks $300 per week. Sibling discounts are available.) Concordia Musical Adventures Mini Camp in Bronxville offers 3 to 5 year olds exciting mornings with musical story-telling adventures as well as art classes. Price is $500. Mini Camp runs from June 11 to 22 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. A full camp program is also available for the rest of the summer for grades 1 through 9. Jodi’s Gym in Mt. Kisco offers gymnastics, music, art, games, and active play in their gym from 9:15am to 12:15 pm for ages 3 to 7 years old. Camp starts June 19 and runs through August 31. Camp Kidville is for ages 2 to 5 years old. Located in Scarsdale, the camp offers gym, crafts, music, snack and weekly themes. Camp started on May 7, but you can register on a weekly basis — it runs all the way to August 24. Pay by the day, week, a couple of weeks or the whole summer. The Little Gym Scarsdale is a flexible camp with fun theme weeks like “Secret Agent: Gyms Bond,” “Hip-Hop Karate Chop” and “Legends, Fables and Folklore.” Camp starts June 11 and runs all the way to August 31. Morning times available for ages 2 to 5 years old (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and afternoons for ages 3 to 9 years old (Monday through Friday). Pay for one day ($55 for members and $60 for non-members), two days ($105 members and $114 non-members), three days ($149 members and $162 non-members), four days ($187 for members and $204 for non-members), or by the week ($220 per week for Little Gym Members and $240 for non-members). Jacob Burns Film Center Summer @ the Lab still has spots left in its mini camp for kids ages 4 to 5 years old. (There’s more sophisticated programming for older and teenagers as well, but all spots in those camps are taken.) Kids in the 4 to 5 year old camp will learn how to handle a camera, practice animation using paper or clay, learn about special effects and makeup, and write and act out stories collaboratively. My Gym Larchmont offers an exciting 1/2-day program jam-packed with games, relays, sports, puppets, gymnastics, arts and crafts, story time, a healthy snack and much more! There is a different theme each week. Camp runs June 11th to September 7th, Monday through Thursday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Fridays 9:00am to 12:00pm. The cost varies by frequency. The Little Language League in Rye offers mini camps for ages 3 to 5 years in Spanish, Italian or French. Children are immersed in the target language through role-play, games, and imaginative journeys to far away lands. All camps run from 9:30 am to 11:30. The French Mini Camp runs June 11th through July 25th on Monday and/or Wednesday. The Spanish Mini Camp runs Jun 12 through July 19th on Tues and/or Thursday, and the Italian Mini Camp runs June 16 through July 21 on Saturdays. Purchase Little Sprouts Mini Camp for ages 3’s, 4’s and kids going into kindergarten from 9am to 1pm. Camp includes sports, swimming, art, playground, science and lunch. Camp starts June 4 and runs until June 22. It costs $550 per week, $1500 for three weeks. A discount is given to kids enrolled in the full Purchase Day Camp: $350 per week or $900 for three weeks. Sheldrake Environmental Center offers a unique camp for pre-schoolers ages 4 to 5 years old during the month of June in Larchmont. Activities include eco-crafts, science experiments, story time, gardening and so much more. Program runs the weeks of June 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th from 9:30 to 12:30pm. The cost is $270 per week for members, $300 per week for non-members. Summer Nature Camp at SEC for ages 3 and up starts the week of July 2nd. Tumble Bugs of Riverside, CT includes instructor-lead activities, play time in a spacious gym, daily art, science or cooking projects and outdoor water play for ages 3 to 5 years old. Camp starts June 4 and runs through September 7. Expect fun themes like “Friend Bugs,” “Super Hero Bugs” and “Underwater Bugs.” Choose morning or afternoon and lunch is available for a fee. Westchester Skating Academy’s Summer Hockey and Figure Skating Mini Camp includes skating instruction (with a New York state certified teacher) plus traditional camp activities like crafts, music, soccer and LEGO building. Located in Elmsford, the mini camp runs from June 11 to June 29 and August 20 through August 31 and is geared toward preschoolers to age 8. Mornings until early afternoon. $415 per week.
