Jackie B’s opened in Scarsdale less than 2 weeks ago and their kitchen stayed open until 1am on their first Saturday. “This is a fun place. Nothing fancy, a good spot to stop in for a burger and a drink,” says owner Scott Weishaus, pictured above. Weishaus has run Giannoni’s Deli on Garth Road in Scarsdale for 25 years. Always busy, his simple yet delicious breakfast and lunch sandwiches are popular among locals. Jackie B’s is located 2 doors down from the deli and fills the corner bar niche that the town has been lacking.
We stopped in last week with the kids, nabbing a table just in time. Adorned with photographs of famous “Jacks” on the walls (think Jack Nicholson, Jackie Robinson, Jack Tripper), it’s a cozy place with only enough seating for about 25 with an additional 15 or so seats at the bar. The barbecue wings were delicious – meaty and not greasy at all – and the burgers and mac n’ cheese brought smiles all around. There are plenty of non-burger options on the menu too like parmesan herb crusted salmon, crisp zucchini chips and a blackened shrimp po boy salad. What you won’t find here is any pretense from the staff or over-priced food. At $12, the Jackie B burger is a bargain for lower Westchester these days.
