A friend of mine mentioned she was going to the immersive experience, 29Rooms, in Brooklyn this weekend, and after some research, I’m dying to go. In its fourth year, the show offers up 29 rooms for you to walk through, each one designed by a different artist and over the top in its expression: lights, colors, textures, sounds. It’s creativity on crack. Read about the celebrities who walked the red carpet on opening night.
The New York Times calls it a “playhouse for the Instagram set,” and writes: “This year’s theme, ‘Expand Your Reality,’ has inspired an ‘Inner Beauty Ball’ in which visitors can dance with some curious characters in a reimagined nightclub from House of Yes. Other activities include walking blindfolded through a multisensory tunnel and competing in a 1970s-inspired game show.”
Talk about a different kind of date night.
Created by style site Refinery 29, the installation requires timed tickets, and exploring takes about three hours. 29Rooms is open to the public Sept 6th–9th & Sept 13th-16th. Each day will have three sessions: 11 a.m.–2 p.m., 3–6 p.m., 7–10 p.m. Friday & Saturday 7-10 p.m. sessions are reserved for Starlight Sessions. Tickets are $39.99 per person, additional for the Starlight Sessions, which includes dancing and drinks.
